Are you a self-proclaimed ‘bookworm’? Well, get ready because this programme invites you into the world of academic publishing with Taylor & Francis! You’ll learn all about the lifecycle of books and journals and the different stages involved in publishing (including digital publishing!) We’ll also look at the monumental impact academic publishing has on academia, industry & government, and more! What else can you expect? A deep dive into the breadth and depth of careers in this exciting industry.

We’ll introduce you to the concept of digital worlds, including what it is and its significance in academic publishing. You’ll also gain insight into the digital world's challenges and opportunities for publishing houses like Taylor & Francis. Get ready to apply your knowledge of digital advancements and publishing in an exciting social media task!

Impact

We’ll investigate Taylor & Francis’ commitment to creating a positive impact with their publishing, showing you that actions can be louder than words. We’ll dive into the work and consideration that goes into increasing sustainable practices at the organisation and introduce you to sustainable publishing. Get ready - this module is complete with quizzes and activities!

The Future of Publishing

Like most industries, the publishing industry has also developed and evolved in recent years. In this module, we’ll zoom in on the future of publishing with the rise of digital media and phenomena. You’ll also discover how increasingly popular forms of digital media such as e-books, online journals and other digital products will be impacted and developed by technological advancements. Finally, you’ll participate in a self-evaluation activity, a great exercise to discover your strengths and weaknesses!

Employability

Does a career at Taylor & Francis feel right for you? In this module, you will learn which skills you’ll need to flourish at the publishing house and the wider publishing industry. You’ll dive into qualifications and skills, career pathways, core employability skills, plus employment opportunities! After a whistle-stop tour through employability skills, you’ll complete your final activity, summarising everything you’ve learned throughout the programme.

When will I hear back if I have been successful with my application?

Once you have applied for your programme, you will receive a confirmation email. You will be notified about the outcome of your application via email at least 3 days before the programme start date. Good luck!

Can I apply to multiple programmes?

Yes, you can sign up to multiple programmes with us.

Who can take part in the programme?

Most of our programmes require students to be in school/college. Some programmes require students to be based in specific regions of the UK, this is stipulated by the organisations themselves, and is not defined by Springpod.

However, the ages mentioned on our programmes are more of a guideline than a strict limit. As such, we more than welcome older students to apply as well!

Will I receive a certificate on completion of the programme?

You will receive a certificate on completion of your programme. It will be made available to download whenever your programme is marked as complete.
